A campus transformed into a full Renewable Energy Community
The Cyprus demo site aims to convert the University of Cyprus campus into a fully functional Renewable Energy Community, integrating rooftop PV systems, battery storage, smart meters, EV chargers, and digital monitoring tools.
The focus centres on demonstrating institutional energy independence, grid reduction, and coordinated building management as a unified REC. SOCIAREM evaluates inverter control strategies, real-time optimisation tools, and digital interfaces for consumption visualisation.
The site provides an environment to model microgrid behaviour, explore flexibility services, and assess stakeholder engagement through educational resources.
